Pauline Maki


Dr. Pauline Maki serves as professor of psychiatry, psychology and obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Illinois Chicago, as well as Director of the University’s Women’s Mental Health Research Program and Senior Director of Research at the Center for Research on Women and Gender.

Maki is known for her contributions to the field of menopause and cognition. For 20 years, she has led a program of NIH-funded research focused on the role of sex steroid hormones on cognition, mood, brain function and stress responsivity in women. Professor Maki’s primary contribution to clinical practice is her research on the risks and benefits of HT on cognition and brain function. Maki is a past president of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS).
