Learn more about Evamist®

What is it: Evamist® (estradiol transdermal spray) is a prescription medicine spray that has been proven to reduce menopause symptoms. Evamist® contains 17β-estradiol, an estrogen hormone chemically synthesized from a plant source. It is the only FDA-approved estrogen therapy spray. You can use one, two, or three sprays of Evamist®, according to your doctor's instructions. Work with your menopause-trained doctor to figure out the best dose for you!

Who is it for: Transdermal MHT is suggested for women who have not had a period in 12 months or more. Transdermal estradiol may be the best option if:

  • You have high blood pressure

  • You are sedentary

  • You have Type-2 Diabetes or are at high risk for developing Type-2 Diabetes

  • You have a strong family history of heart attack or stroke

  • You have a family history of blood clotting disorders.

  • You are over 70, are starting Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) after age 60, or are starting MHT more than 10 years after your last period.

What am I getting: 3-month supply of Evamist®. If you have a uterus (and don't have a progestin IUD like Mirena or Liletta), you'll also receive oral progesterone.

How to get it: Prescription required. You'll be assigned a menopause-trained doctor who will review your symptoms and medical history. You'll receive personalized treatment recommendations and together will come up with a plan. We'll ship everything to your door and you'll be able to message your doctor any time for free for as long as your prescription is active.

What is Estradiol?

Estradiol is the primary estrogen produced by the body and is considered to be the most powerful. The estradiol in Alloy-prescribed products is molecularly identical to the estradiol your body produces naturally.

Our bodies need estrogen for the normal function of multiple organ systems, including our brains, bones, and hearts. As we go through menopause, our estrogen levels dramatically decrease, and this is what causes symptoms. Replenishing your body's natural estrogen in small doses can help you feel your best and stay healthy for longer.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I know if estradiol spray is right for me?+
Your menopause-trained doctor will review your symptoms and medical history and help determine the best treatment plan for you. Transdermal estradiol may be the best choice if you have high blood pressure, are sedentary, have Type-2 Diabetes or are at high risk for developing Type-2 Diabetes, have a strong family history of heart attack or stroke, have a family history of blood clotting disorders, are over 70, are starting MHT after age 60, or are starting MHT more than 10 years after your last period.
  • Can I use the spray with other forms of hormone treatment?+
Evamist® Estradiol Spray can safely be used alongside local hormonal treatments, like vaginal estradiol and M4. Please consult with your doctor about any other hormone treatments you are currently taking before starting treatment with Alloy.
  • What is Menopausal Hormone Therapy and is it safe for me?+
When you go through menopause, your body stops making estrogen, which causes symptoms like hot flashes, sleeplessness, and mood swings, and leads to conditions like osteoporosis. Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT), also known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), is a treatment that replenishes the estrogen your body stops making, but still needs. At Alloy, all of the MHT we prescribe is bioidentical, which means it’s chemically identical to what your body was making before. For the vast majority of women, this treatment is very effective and completely safe. Your menopause-trained doctor will use your medical intake to determine the best treatment for you, and if you have any questions, you can always reach out to ask!
  • What is progesterone and why is it prescribed?+
Progesterone regulates the menstrual cycle and helps keep the uterine lining thin. For people with intact uteruses taking supplemental estrogen in menopause, progesterone is prescribed to protect the uterine lining.
  • Is Evamist® eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement?+
Yes! Your consult and the medication are both eligible. The consult is considered a telehealth or telemedicine visit and is generally reimbursable. Medications prescribed by a licensed provider are eligible to be paid for or reimbursed by your HSA or FSA. Your invoice is available to download and include when you submit to your plan for reimbursement. If you require more information, please contact us at support@myalloy.com and we will assist you. Note: The IRS defines which medical expenses are eligible under an HSA or FSA and the products carried on Alloy are in compliance with these requirements. However, these plans can vary and some may not allow all eligible HSA or FSA expenses. It's important to always check with your benefits administrator to determine which expenses are eligible before you shop.
